History

Gloucestershire Farming Friends was set up by local farmer Malcolm Whitaker in 1991. The charity provides free and confidential advice, help or just a shoulder to lean on for rural people in the county. This might cover emotional or practical advice, help with paperwork or a friendly voice with whom to talk over a problem.

The charity is run by volunteers; all of whom come from rural backgrounds. Each member has different areas of knowledge and expertise allowing them to advise on a host of different matters.

“I like to think that Gloucestershire Farming Friends is doing the job that neighbours used to do in days gone by.”
Malcolm Whitaker, Founder, Gloucestershire Farming Friends
